 Watauga
county is home to Boone NC, considered the heart of the
High Country and Appalachian State University, Time
magazines college of the year. The university makes Boone an
exciting college town, with boundless educational and career
opportunities.
Although ASU is the counties largest employer, the tourism
industry, and a major medical center help contribute the
areas low unemployment rate.
Endless outdoor adventures including golf, fly fishing, and
hiking make Watauga county a desirable place to call home.
There is also a major ski resort, Appalachian Ski Mtn., to
keep you busy in the snowy winter months. Many residential
communities are based around the outdoor activities that
draw home buyers to the area. Check out Twin Rivers, a fly
fishing community, and Seven Devils, home to Hawksnest Ski
Resort.
The rural historic community of Valle Crucis offers a true
mountain living experience, complete with an authentic
original store. The town of Blowing Rock provides a more
upscale approach to mountain living - it is home to many of
the areas luxury communities.
